NASHVILLE, Tenn. – April 22, 2015 – Nashville Metro Council last night unanimously approved the rezoning of 1.25 acres on Wedgewood Avenue from R6 to SP, clearing the way for Aerial Development Group to build its first mixed-used project.
Wedgewood Lofts will be a five-story, mixed-use development with 150 multifamily units and up to 10,000 square feet of retail space at street level, located just east of I-65. It will consist of lofts, one- and two-bedroom units, ranging in size from 468 square feet to 1,515 square feet.
“Wedgewood Lofts will help meet the neighborhood’s wishes to activate the area as a walkable neighborhood and transition between commercial and residential along this major corridor,” said Britnie Turner, founder/CEO of Aerial Development Group. “We appreciate the time and input from the planning staff, Councilmember Sandra Moore, South Nashville Action People and other neighbors and look forward to building a structure that complements the community.”
To date, the development company has had a focus on revitalizing urban neighborhoods through the renovation and infill of single-family homes and smaller multi-family projects. Wedgewood Lofts will be Aerial Development Group’s first large-scale new construction multi-unit residential project.
Poole & Poole Architecture, which specializes in multi-family developments and mixed-use projects, will design Wedgewood Lofts. Construction will begin in Fall 2015, with a completion date in Spring 2017.
Aerial Development Group is also seeking SP rezoning for 1.9 urban acres for a second project in the Wedgewood-Houston area. Southgate Station will be a mix of single-family homes, townhomes and flats on Southgate Avenue and Pillow Street near the fairgrounds.
