Aerial Development Group Plans Second Project in Wedgewood-Houston Neighborhood

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Feb. 17, 2015 – Aerial Development Group and The Magness Group are teaming to jointly develop a project called Southgate Station, a mix of single-family homes, townhomes and flats in the Wedgewood-Houston area.

The development team is currently seeking SP rezoning for 1.9 urban acres on Southgate Avenue and Pillow Street, near the Nashville Fairgrounds. The zoning request will go before the Metro Planning Commission on March 26.

They have been working with Metro Planning staff, District 17 Councilmember Sandra Moore, South Nashville Action People and other neighbors. As part of the project, Aerial plans to rehabilitate a stone home currently on the site at 514 Southgate. “Southgate will help meet the neighborhood’s desire for more density and more diversity in housing options for the Wedgewood-Houston area,” said Britnie Turner, founder and CEO of Aerial Development

This is Aerial Development Group’s second project in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. The company also has plans to develop Wedgewood Lofts, a mixed-use development with 150 multifamily units and up to 10,000 square feet of retail space.

Southgate Station is the first joint project for the two development companies. The Magness Group has built homes in the 12South area and is now expanding into the Wedgewood-Houston area. Aerial Development Group is a Nashville, Tenn.-based residential and commercial development company that revitalizes urban neighborhoods through renovation and infill. Through its social venture business model, the company donates a percentage of its profits to improve lives locally and globally. In just five years, the company has built more than 200 homes and is now entering the multi-family, mixed-use development market.
